Anthropic Is Doubling Claude’s Usage Limits. Here’s When to Log On
Claude just got a whole lot more generous. For the next two weeks, Anthropic is giving users double the usual usage limits — and all you need to do is show up at the right time.
No sign-ups. No promo codes. Just free extra access, automatically applied.
Double the Limits, Zero Effort Required
The promotion runs from March 13 to March 27. During that window, anyone using Claude outside weekday hours between 8 AM and 2 PM ET gets twice their normal usage limits for a five-hour stretch.

That’s a pretty wide net. Free, Pro, Max, and Team plan users all qualify. Enterprise users are the only ones left out this time. Everyone else gets the boost automatically — whether you’re on web, desktop, or mobile.
Even better, the deal extends to Anthropic’s connected tools. So Claude Code, Claude for Excel, Claude for PowerPoint, and Cowork all count. If you’ve been holding back on a big project because of usage caps, this is the week to let loose.
Not Anthropic’s First Rodeo
This isn’t a brand-new idea. Anthropic ran a similar promotion between December 25 and December 31, doubling limits for Pro, Max 5x, and Max 20x subscribers over the holidays.
But this time around, the offer is bigger. More plan types qualify, and the timing feels a little more pointed. Anthropic is framing it as a “small thank you to everyone using Claude,” which sounds warm and fuzzy. The real backstory, though, is a bit more complicated.

The Department of Defense Drama Behind the Offer
Anthropic recently refused to remove certain AI safety guardrails for the Department of Defense. That decision had consequences. The federal agency labeled Anthropic a supply chain risk and pulled its contract. Then OpenAI stepped in and signed a deal with the DoD instead.
What happened next was fascinating. A wave of users decided to ditch ChatGPT and migrate to Claude, partly in solidarity with Anthropic’s stance on AI safety. Claude’s usage spiked fast.
So this promotion sits at an interesting intersection. Part genuine user appreciation, part smart timing to welcome a flood of new and returning users while momentum is high.

When to Actually Use It
The math here is simple. If you’re in the US and typically use Claude during regular work hours, you’ll want to shift some of that activity to earlier mornings, evenings, or weekends to cash in on the doubled limits.
For people outside the ET timezone, the off-peak window falls at different local times. UK users, for instance, would be looking at activity before 1 PM BST. Worth checking your own timezone against that 8 AM to 2 PM ET window to plan accordingly.
And if you’ve been curious about Claude Code or the Office integrations but never had enough headroom to really explore them? This two-week stretch is the perfect sandbox.
The promotion disappears on March 27. Between the lowered barrier and the goodwill vibe surrounding Anthropic right now, there’s genuinely no downside to taking full advantage.
