Nvidia’s DLSS 4.5 Brings 6x Frame Generation to RTX 50-Series GPUs This March
RTX 50-series owners, your patience is about to pay off. Nvidia just confirmed that DLSS 4.5 with 6x Multi Frame Generation rolls out on March 31st, and the numbers are genuinely impressive.
This is a meaningful jump from what DLSS 4 offered. So let’s break down exactly what’s coming and why it matters for your gaming experience.
6x Multi Frame Generation Explained Simply
Here’s the core idea. DLSS 4.5 can now generate five additional frames for every single frame your GPU actually renders natively. That gives you a maximum 6x multiplier on your frame rate.
DLSS 4 topped out at generating three additional frames per real frame. So this is a significant step up in how aggressively Nvidia’s AI can boost perceived performance.
Think of it like a photocopier that got smarter. Before, your GPU rendered one frame and DLSS copied it twice more. Now it copies it five more times, with AI filling in realistic motion and detail between each one. The result feels smoother, even when your hardware is working just as hard.
Dynamic Frame Generation Arrives the Same Day
Alongside the 6x update, Nvidia is also launching Dynamic Frame Generation for RTX 50-series GPUs on March 31st. This one’s surprisingly practical.

Instead of locking into a fixed multiplier, Dynamic Frame Generation watches your target frame rate and your display’s refresh rate. Then it automatically switches between different Multi Frame Generation multipliers to keep things hitting that sweet spot. So if your game dips, the system compensates without you touching a single setting.
Nvidia originally announced both features alongside DLSS 4.5 but only committed to a vague “spring” window at the time. Now we have a firm date.
GeForce Now Gets Some Love Too
Nvidia didn’t stop at local gaming upgrades. The company also announced several improvements coming to its GeForce Now cloud gaming service.

First, VR headset support gets a big boost starting March 19th. Ultimate subscribers will be able to stream at up to 90fps, up from the previous 60fps ceiling. That’s a meaningful improvement for VR, where higher frame rates directly affect comfort and immersion.
Plus, GOG account linking is coming to GeForce Now in the “coming months.” That opens up your GOG library for cloud play, which is great news if you’ve built a collection there over the years.
Also worth noting, select Xbox games are joining GeForce Now’s Install-to-Play library. Brutal Legend and Contrast are among the confirmed titles heading to the service.
Who Can Actually Use DLSS 4.5?

Worth being clear here. The 6x Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Frame Generation features are exclusive to RTX 50-series GPUs. If you’re running an RTX 40-series card or older, these specific upgrades won’t apply to you.
That said, DLSS technology as a whole continues to benefit a wide range of RTX GPU owners through other updates. Nvidia has been pretty consistent about keeping older cards in the mix for at least some DLSS improvements.
If you do have a 50-series card, March 31st is shaping up to be a notable day. Both features drop simultaneously, so you won’t need to wait in stages for the full package.
The practical effect of all this? Games that already push your hardware should feel noticeably smoother without requiring a single hardware upgrade. And with Dynamic Frame Generation handling the balancing act automatically, getting the most out of these features should be straightforward even without tweaking settings manually.
